Benefit That Gal Brightening Face Primer

I don't normally use primer, and I am still not convinced that I must use a primer before base, probably because I have got dry skin, and have no problems with makeup falling off my face. Don't get me wrong, dry skin comes with its owns set of problems. But let's leave that to another post.

However, I was convinced to give Benefit That Gal a chance because of michelle1218 on Youtube. She used to really love this, and used it in many of her makeup videos.

Also, I have always adored the Benefit packaging - their illustration style, so this primer appealed to me even more.

But does it really perform? And am I now convinced that I need a primer? Read on to find out!

Benefit That Gal Brightening Face Primer

Available: Sephora. I have forgotten how much this is. But I remember that it was considered affordable, perhaps around $30.

Volume: 11 mL.

Star Properties: Wear alone or under makeup for the look of bright, smooth skin.

Ingredients: As in photos below.
This contains less dimethicone and trimethicone than standard transparent primers. In fact, it has more glycerin than dimethicone. This further convinced me to buy, as I am sensitive to dimethicone, and definitely will not pick up any product that has dimethicone as its first or second ingredient.

Instructions: Apply with fingertips. Blend in with even, upward motion.

Packaging
The Benefit That Gal primer comes in a cute little hexagonal paper box. The product itself is held in a cylindrical tube with the exact print that you see on the box, as seen in photo below. It is too cute!

Besides the main white cap, this primer also has a tiny transparent cap on the insides, as you see in the photo below.

Dispense
I love the dispense method, whereby all you need to do is twist. It gives me a lot of control on how much product comes out. Sometimes, I need two full twist, sometimes three. I guess it really depends on the state of my skin that day.

Brightening
I think this does perform what it claims! Look at the back of my hand below, the right half has Benefit That Gal Primer, and the left half is bare skin. The right half is a little pinker and brighter!

The same effect can be seen when I use it on my face too - a very subtle brightness.

Other Effects
Besides that, this primer also makes my makeup last longer. I love to use this whenever I am going to be out for long, long hours, like a day to the zoo/ garden, etc. And I also like it for hot days.

Love this! 5/5.
I think it does what it promises. Brightens, helps makeup stay longer, and also not drying.
Will repurchase unless I come across another recommendation for an effective NON-Dimenthicone-based primer.
